IC2944 Thackeray's Globules Image taken at Clayton Bay, South Australia Equipment - GSO 8" RC, with QSI583WSG Guiding - QSI OAG and Orion Star Shoot Autoguider. LHa RHa G B -105, 180 30 30 30 Darks, flats and biases applied Processed in CCD stack and Photoshop CS3 Object - This object is located in the constellation of Centaurus at a distance of 6400 light years. The star cluster is surrounded by a mass of nebulosity which is supposed to have the shape of a running chicken. Within the nebula are numerous masses of Thackeray's Globules which can be resolved quite well with even a modest telescope. Notes - The Thackeray's Globules are really well resolved in this image. The largest of which has detail showing which is also seen in a Hubble image of the same globules. I could not be happier with this result. |
