Galactic Centre Image taken at Clayton Bay, South Australia Equipment - Nikon D3 with 14-24 f2.8 N series lens Guiding - QSI OAG and Orion Star Shoot Autoguider. RGB 35 (5 minute sub exposures) Processed in CCD stack and Photoshop CS3 Object - The galactic center and its foreground contains some of the most interesting looking visual objects in the night sky. Here Rho ophiuchi can be seen in the lower center. M8 above and slightly to the right. Lovely dust lanes are plentiful in this part of the night sky and are well contrasted against the glare of light emanating from the billions of stars in this region. Notes - Reasonably happy with this attempt but I need to use another lens as what looks like field rotation is in fact coma in the lens. Clearly not the lens to do this sort of thing. |
